Why Was Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp Not Working For More Than 6 Hours?
Recently, Facebook and its other products Instagram, Whatsapp, etc were down for almost 6 hours. Many Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp users started tweeting on Twitter and talking about Facebook Outage, Facebook-Server Down, and so forth on other social media platforms. This shows us how people rely on Facebook products or in another way, how much they are addicted to social media. Why Was Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp Not Working For More than 6 Hours?
Why Was Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp Not Working For More Than 6 Hours?
After fixing Facebook and its product outage problem, Facebook gives this statement.
"Our engineering teams have learned that configuration changes on the backbone routers that coordinate network traffic between our data centers caused issues that interrupted this communication. This disruption to network traffic had a cascading effect on the way our data centers communicate, bringing our services to..." and so on.
In simple language, the DNS(Domain Name System), "www.facebook.com" was disconnected from the Facebook server. Since Instagram and Whatsapp are owned by Facebook, they were also down and disconnected from the Domain Name.
Because of this, many Facebook users were unable to use Facebook products. If www.facebook.com is not connecting you to the Facebook server, how will you access your Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp Account?
What Happens After Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp Outage?
Because of the Facebook-Server Down problem, Mark Zuckerberg Networth drop by around $6Billion. The share of Facebook was also declining. And many other businesses, those who rely on Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp, faced loss in their business. Even the domain name "www.facebook.com" was on sale at that outage time. Facebook employees do suffer from lots of problems while fixing the issue because their Facebook Card wasn't working that allow them to access the Facebook server. It was also one of the biggest outage problems of Facebook.
Facebook even apologize on Twitter tweeting this stuff.
To the huge community of people and businesses around the world who depend on us: we're sorry. We’ve been working hard to restore access to our apps and services and are happy to report they are coming back online now. Thank you for bearing with us.
